In a studio 10 years ago, Herbie Hancock pulled me aside to rave about the great saxophone player on the session, DAVE McMURRAY. Over the ensuing decade, his musicianship has soared to even greater heights. Dave has produced five albums featuring his unique brand of jazz and has recorded and/or toured with Bob Dylan, The B52s, Gladys Knight, Khaled, Bob James, Iggy Pop, The Winans, The Rolling Stones, Was (Not Was), Brian Wilson. The Temptations, Geri Allen, Kid Rock and Kem. I’ve never heard him like this-fronting an explosive, stripped down power trio. Herbie was right: Dave’s an awesome musician.

By WickedPen on January 17, 2008, at 11:50AM PST Pat Metheny once said the only reason to cover a tune that's been done a million times is because one has a unique perspective on what those changes mean. Clearly that's the case here. Great interplay between the drums and bass. AWESOME solo from Ibraheim Jones.

By ben4000 on December 6, 2007, at 8:48AM PST Saw Dave play with Geri Allen a few years ago. Your're right-he is great. I love this trio. The bass player looks very young but he's deep. Very Cool-want to hear/see more.
